This tour will explore the use of harvest aids and mechanization for improving efficiency and reducing labor costs in tree fruit production.  We will travel to several orchards to see and discuss trellis systems and platforms for harvesting and managing pear, cherry, and apple orchards. 

Researchers from Washington State University will share results of their work with harvest-assist machines and their effects on, productivity, efficiency, and bruising. Researchers and growers will discuss lessons learned from trellis designs and spacing that facilitate mechanization and maximize efficiency.
