Refurbishing

Garden kneelers have made weeding, planting, and even pruning a much more comfortable experience.  Whether you have arthritis or are just dealing with an uneven surface like bark or gravel, that extra layer of cushioning can make all the difference.  Basic kneelers seem to be some sort of plastic-based compressed foam.  They seem to work well for a few years.

After several years of using mine, I noticed some of the color was rubbing off on my clothes when I worked.  I hated to throw it away when it still functioned to cushion and protect.  I have been working on trying to decrease what I send to the landfill by refurbishing or upcycling objects.  Hmm, what to do?

At the same time, I have been trying to use some of the craft supplies I have purchased over the years.  I found a few rolls of decorative duct tape.  I thought wrapping the existing kneeler in duct tape would solve the problem of color rubbing off and give me a surface that would be easy to wipe clean.

The red kneeler is the original worn kneeler.  The metallic purple is the finished product.  I picked a bright color so it will be easier to find in the garden when I lose it and because it makes me smile.  I also included a picture of one I did a few months ago so you could see how the project holds up. I am pleased with them.
